“For several years I had been suffering from sporadic but severe pain in my left knee, and increasing pain in the right knee, especially after walking some distance. I believed the pain was due to a previous injury whilst competing as a judo player and general wear and tear after years of weight training. In consultation with Laura she was able to ascertain that the true nature of the problem was from a hip operation I had as a child. There was a lot of scare tissue damage and muscle weakness in that area, including some misalignment affecting my walking pattern and therefore causing stress in the knee joints. Laura recommended some Pilates sessions and we worked on key exercises to improve the function of the hip and thigh muscles, and specific techniques to correct postural alignment. Following the sessions, I noticed a marked improvement in my walking ability and to this day have pain-free knees.
